GOOD DESIGN

An introduction

Welcome to the Good Life.

While our project types are diverse, our geographic focus is not.

Our inspiration comes from fusing our experience and talents in architectural design with our love for the cultural and geographical identity of the American heartland. We explore what it means to be an urban pioneer in a revitalizing railroad town; how sparsely populated farm and ranch communities can adapt to thrive in an age of apparent rural flight; and how to interpret the imagery and iconography of the great plains in the modern world.

We work with small business owners and large developers. Our portfolio of projects spans metro cities and small towns. For many of our clients, it is their first time working with an architect and design team. We are more than happy to explain the design process and help you to define project goals. Our most successful projects are with clients who have a big dream and want a partner to help bring it home – we will fill in the details to bring your vision to life.

This is who we are and what we value. If any of it rings true for you as well, we would love to visit with you. Please reach out about a possible collaboration.

Expertise

Your building should add vitality to your community. We specialize in turning underused historic Main Street properties into jaw-dropping, cash-flowing revitalization engines.

We also find joy in reimagining the most unlovable buildings into beautiful, useful and sustainable places.

Goodlife is unique in that many of our team members have personal experience in construction administration and development.

In pairing that hard-earned knowledge with a creative mindset, our clients – whether seasoned investors, new entrepreneurs, or institutional trustees – can rest assured that we will craft stunning solutions while keeping their goals in focus. Because we have walked in their shoes.

We work with you to create interior spaces that reflect your culture and character. We can also assist with the selection and styling of furniture, fixtures, and accessories.

All details – large and small – deserve to be thoughtfully designed.

Make informed choices before committing to a project. We are able to provide investigative due-diligence, pro-forma fit tests, “what-if” planning scenario studies, and marketing/fundraising imagery.

Detailed, immersive 3D rendering is included in all Goodlife projects from the earliest phases so that our clients can fully participate in the design process.

Smaller communities face many of the same challenges of their urban counterparts, but with different economic variables and cultural context.  Sometimes small towns lack the resources to engage designers or to deploy designed solutions. But more often, the plans offered by metro-based consultants are impractical and tone deaf because they don’t understand the underlying conditions.

With experience in communities of all sizes, we choose to live and work in rural Nebraska. And because of that, we offer a unique perspective.

From designing rural housing concepts, to planning downtown revitalization strategies, to employing resilient design practices – we are qualified to help.

In our little corner of the world, the client who truly intends to create a well-crafted, thoughtfully designed dwelling doesn’t come around every day. But when they do, we love nothing more than pouring our architectural skillsets and energy into helping them design a place to live their best life.

Hands on

Practical Experience

Most of our time is spent in the studio designing projects for our clients, but a few days each month our team points the bricks, frames the walls, fits the hardware, hangs the cabinets, and fabricates custom furniture at our own redevelopment projects.

Because we invest time in the field, we more fully understand the choices facing our clients and we better appreciate the skills and thought process of the craftspersons executing our designs.

Good Design Takes a Team

Good projects aren’t built by themselves – it truly takes a team to create great places. As a small studio of architects and interior designers we work together to design our client’s projects. We do our best work by blending roles and responsibilities, encouraging all players to participate in all aspects of our projects. Collectively, we hold more experience and creativity than we do separately.

Our team is a fusion of professional experience and youthful energy. What brought us all together is our shared love for the heartland, and our mission to help bring good design to the communities we love.
